4x6 vs standard 9 on beach

Got my 1st MD for Xmas. WHITES 6T. Then bought the 4x6 shooter. I am hooked. Question. I go to beach several times per week, now. Do I start with 9, then switch when I find a spot. Or do I just put the shooter on, slow down, and do some deliberate hunting? Coins or relics, I don't care. I just want old stuff. I am retired, and willing to travel up and down east coast. Any "grey-beards" out there willing to offer advice?

The 4X6 is the LAST coil I would use on the beach. That coil is designed for extreme trashy ground and that usually is not the case on the beach. You will get far better coverage and depth with the stock coil.

What Larry said is absolutely correct. The 9'er will give you good depth and coverage per sweep. JMHO, Marty

I know the feeling. I just started last year, I wish the same thing. Enjoy the years you have ahead of you. When you get the urge, go out and do it; regret is the buzzword of many people. We cannot change the things we did before but this is a passion for I would guess about 100% of us. Whether it is relic, beach or tot park hunting have fun and find some goodies. Marty

I you're at a fresh water beach use the 4 x 6 all the time. If you're at a salt water beach use the 9 inch all of the time. This has to do with the high amount of trash in fresh water and the wide open spaces of salt water beaches. good luck and dig those pull tabs!
