4x6 Shooter Coil

cx3

New member
I have been testing my recently purchased shooter coil and have noticed that the probe never recomends a seting of over 5 in my ground, but I can easily run 12 with no problems also discrimation sensitivity of 92 and all metal sens. of 70 and the V is smooth as silk. I wonder how accurate the probe is? To top this I can also turn on boost and the detector is still smooth with no falsing. I have always thought my ground was fairly hot, I base this with my experience with the XLT and DFX that I previously owned, as users of these machines know the feature DC Phase gave you a ground reading when you pinpointed and the higher into the negative range the numbers went the hotter the ground was, my ground was -92 on both the XLT & DFX. I dont know if my ground is hot or not know based on the settings i can use on the V.

I recently got the 4x6 coil but haven't ran the TX boost yet. The 4x6 I have does have the "V" designation on the coil. I also haven't ran the Rx setting above the factory default in coin & jewelery mode yet.
The few places I tried the 4x6 I was busy enough on targets easily within depth reach of the 4x6 without any TX boost or any need to run the RX any higher. I do appreciate the better separation I'm getting with the 4x6 in the trashy areas. The wife says it looks funny on the end of a detector - I told her it's extremely serious business :detecting:

Thanks for the info on the 4 x 6....maybe that's what I need since I'm encountering lots of trash at most of my sites. May I ask where can I buy one with the V designation on it?...does kelleyco sell it? Thanks!

I picked mine up from a local dealer. I asked about the "V" designation via phone before going over to get it.
Some favor the 5.3 over the 4x6. For whatever reasons I read on the smaller coils a few weeks ago, the 4x6 at the time edged in my favor. No matter, smaller coils separates in the trash better for me.

Does it like bottlecaps .

Does the coil cause the higher VDI readings , in the quarter range?
