4x Out With The Eldo Umax

Sven

Well-known member
Spent Saturday afternoon checking out some other local schoolyards, park playgrounds and several sandy beaches.
Sunday spent the morning at a school I hunted the weekend before. Monday after work found a couple more spots to try.
Tuesday after work found an older park with some huge beaver dams, the Beav slapped his tail at me twice.
Then headed for a sledding hill to finish off the evening.
Used the stock coil and the 7" concentric, that 7 incher sure talks in all metal mode you can almost tell what's below and finds coins on edge.
Have to say I like it more than the 5.75 coil. Have to hand it to Monte for suggesting the 7".

Lots of work digging, no gold or silver. Besides the usual trash, my Tesoro Eldo had me dig up the following:
1 Toonie
2 Loonies
23 Quarters
29 Dimes
25 Nickels
158 Pennies
===================
Total 14.48

Plus:

1 Gaming token
Junk jewelry
2 Toy cars
A bunch of stainless screws, all but one was bent.

Wow, Sven
Thats a bucket Load of change,
The Eldo was speaking to you, huh
I need to get a 7" Coil

Great going!

The Eldorado uMax and the 7 inch concentric coil is a match made in Heaven. It's a dream to swing.

I really like being able to change from the discriminate mode to the all metal mode with a flip of a switch.

The Eldorado has a voice of its own.

hey sven! my old eldo is still my main machine, but sure wanting a lighter version. 8 AA a bit heavy, but i can hip mount with my cable extention. money tooo tight now, and mine works sooo, what i want to know is the new umax as deep as the old jobs, and comparisons if possible to say a vaquero. have you tried it in salt? and last but not least, would it be your tesoro choice for parks and freshwater beach. thats what i hunt, but hope to see ocean once a yr or so... carey.

Hi, I never had an older big box Eldo. If you can get 6-8" on a penny then I would consider it an excellent VLF machine to keep........Average penny depth I'm getting up here in my present location is about 6". Haven't used the Eldo Umax near any salt water, as I'm not remotely close to any salty ocean. But can tell you on the sandy beaches I hunted last year I found lots of coins up to 9" in all metal mode.

The V I had to use a couple years ago didn't impress me much. It was not a smooth operating machine. The Cibola was smoother all the way. The Eldo Umax is a smooth stable machine in all metal mode, nice threshold. Did notice that the beaches up here where I now live have some black sand and accumulates near the waters edge and the Eldo does react to it slightly.

At this point I can say it's my fav Tesoro, it does what I want and the true all metal mode with threshold is close to the older analog sounds which I like. I'm not to crazy about silent search. I have been hunting in all metal and double checking with disc mode to help identify a target. I haven't tried the Golden Umax, one machine that has me interested in trying, out the multi-tone and notching.

I think you'll find most Eldo Umax owners happy with them and in no hurry to sell them.
It is my main machine for land hunting parks, schoolyards, sportsfields, woods and beaches.

Found my first 1919 Canadian large cent today, it's been about 15 years since I dug one. Not the nicest looking condition......

Guys, the 7" concentric is great on the Conquistador, SSumax, and the Deleon too. I use it most of the time.
