I spent the holiday on Cape Cod at my uncles beach house for a cookout. During the annual horseshoe game on the beach after the tide went out, I kept seeing this rock down at one end of the court. I never picked it up. Then during the last match, I threw my shoes & looked down & saw the wierd rock again.....this time I picked it up.
Glad I did!
This is a native American spear point, & probably thousands of years old.

I love finding these. Funny when I go & really dig or look for 'em I never find 'em :) But it really makes you think that the last person to touch it before you over 1000 years ago was probably the Indian who made it.....a connection that's very cool, I think.

Arowheads are one thing I have never found. They are found in the area but I have never happened to stumble on one.

Loved the story and pics on your recent colonial hunt.

My last CW relic hunt was almost a total bust. An arrow head was the only offensive weapon I found the whole trip! That was a lotta driving for an arrow head! But at least it didn't cost me $200!

When I was a young teenager.. (many, many moons ago... :) ) I sat down under a big shady oak tree at our church to escape the summer sun. I felt a sudden sharp pain in my backside (the part bill cropped out of his photo in the other thread (thankfully) ) I looked, and lo and behold, there was a perfect arrowhead with the tip pointing straight up! (and thankfully mostly buried). I've found dozens, but this one was in the best condition I had ever recovered.

HBCH'n (happy butt cleavageless hunting)

first & only arrowhead?? That's a great story I need to tell one of the magazines someday........

On a hunt with Bill at an obviously never before hunted colonial site we were finding large cents, shoe buckles, many types of buttons, and a cool early navy hat device.

What happened next was truly amazing -

I found an beautiful 1864 "Fatty" indian head penny in the same hole as a very nice white quartz indian arrow head. These were both firsts for me! I still think it is kinda neat I found these two indian related relics in the same some hole. I bet I could dig for six lifetimes and not have that happen again!!!
