4th of July early AM hunt after Fireworks

Diggin-it

New member
Our fireworks were last night July 3rd...they got over at around 11PM. I waited until around midnight for the traffic to clear out before I headed for the beach. When I got there the police were running up and down the beach on a Kawasaki Mule kicking EVERYONE off the beach, even the can collectors. I knew they would not be doing that all night so I just patiently watched and waited. They drove off the beach and out of sight just before 1AM. The coast was clear, literally...their was not a person on the nearly quarter mile of beach! As Max would say....I was "Inbound" :lmfao: It was a perfect night...a full moon and a stiff breeze, which was good because it was like 85 degrees out still. In fear of getting spotted I did not use any flashlights. The moonlight was enough to see the ground and the shadows of targets in my scoop. I detected purely by sound with the AT-Pro...not a problem, I know the machine very, very well. I dry sand hunted only. Well to make a long story short...there was the least amount of trash I have ever encountered on the beach after the fireworks, so it was pretty easy detecting. I got myself sick water detecting in cold water, so I could only stand it for about an hour and a half. Between running a low fever, the heat outside, and my ears roasting...even though I was having a good time, my body said no more. It is a real shame no one else showed up to detect...I had the entire beach to myself, only covered a small, small fraction of area, and the targets were good. I know there was gold out there somewhere...but I couldn't stick it out to find it. Anyways...I ended up with $3.79 in clad, $16 in paper money, a thick (plated gold) necklace, a Tungsten Carbide men's wedding band, a Marine's Dog Tag, 2 earrings, a women's watch, 3 pair of sunglasses, an angle bracelet, a beaded bracelet, a matchbox car, and a Silver heart pendant. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Heart is stamped "Tiffany and Co. 925"....sweet my first piece of Tiffany jewelry. All in all not bad for an 1 1/2 hour hunt in the dark while sick. Now to try and recoup and hopeful hit another beach tonight after their fireworks.

Happy 4th of July and HH!!

Congrats on a nice mixture of finds! Nothing like a little paper money to boost the totals, & the Tiffany name probably makes the pendant worth a little more, too!

WOW what a hunt congrats!

Nice plan too. Probably better to have the can pickers clear out some of the trash for you first. you did great with the loot!

Great haul and write up, Les! :clapping: Perfect night, like you said, full moon, stiff breeze...even on the dark side of the moon no need for a light, those can pickers are making a haul this year, I too have never seen such clean beaches...I hope to head out right now, I've been watching some detectroists on the webcams hittin it all day, and into the evening here. Paper money is always good too! :clapping:

Finally got to the Dr. today. Guess I should not have been out hunting...Bronchitis and a sinus infection. Oh well it was fun. Now I'm temporarily banned from detecting until I recover..Doctor's orders
