47 cents and 2 rings

Went to my brothers house to visit and watch the game yesterday, and of course, do a little metal detecting. When my sister-in-law asked me what I was gonna find I said I was gonna dig a big honking diamond ring. She said "yeah right", and we laughed at the "joke " I had made. Later, when I went outside and fired up the 505, the first target I dug was a beautiful diamond ring! I about had a heart attack! Then I dug many assorted trash and modern clad targets. The 2nd to last target was the other ring with the large stone with the 2 diamonds, one on each side. That ring has the 925 HMI on the inside, the first ring has nothing that I can see. There is almost nothing that can compare to seeing a beautiful ring being unearthed while metal detecting but I found something that beat even that. I was going to go to a jeweler to have them checked out to see if they have any value but my daughter went into labor this morning and I spent all day at the hospital, and today my first grand child was born. That was even better than the rings!

The Pioneer 505 with the 4 inch coil is AWESOME! It is just about the only coil I use anymore and I have all 3 coils for this detector. Just wanted to share with you guys. Happy Hunting everyone.

congrats on the rings but you re right nothing beat having grand children i have four and to tell you the truth i look forward to seeing them more than my own children just wait till there old enough to climb on you mine think I'm a jungle gym way cool and if you dont mind I'm just wondering how much depth do you get with the 4" coil on the 505 tanks and once again congrats

Scotrod, in my coin garden the 4 inch coil would, in all metal mode, detect a quarter, dime, nickel and penny at 8 inches. In auto notch it would not detect or identify the 8 inch coins. I did not try ii out in disc, all metals, which I have read since then may give a little more depth. It did hit the penny and quarter good at 6 inches in auto notch, but did not consistently identify them. It occasionally hit the nickel and dime at 6 inches but not reliably at all. I have learned that in the field, if a deeper target bounces around a lot, as long as it does NOT go down into the iron range, it is usually, but not always, a good target. My 505 with the 4 inch coil in my area will accurately identify coins to 5 to 5 1/2 inches. Where it really stands out is in target separation and pin pointing in trashy areas. It is definitely worth getting if you are detecting in parks with lots of trash, and around tot lots with metal structures as you can get a little closer with the smaller coil. You can probably tell that I like it a lot and there are good reasons for that. Hope this helps.
