[attachment 146469 00137799.jpg]the items I found were just behind the train in the photo!Found this "nest" of 45/70 cartridges in a wooded area near an 1880's fort. I believe it was a camp of the 18th Infantry who built the fort in 1887. All the cartridges are dated 1884, 2 of them show perfect signs of cutting near the base, the bullets on the two unfired rounds are whittled. I have no idea why the shot bullets were in the same hole as this was a small trash pit full of square nails ,glass and porcelain. Next to this small pit I found a really nice narrow gauge rr door, as this camp is next to the old rr grade for the fort. Thanks for looking.

Nice hunt COcav. Are they the benet primed ones can't quite tell in the pic.
Find any whole bottles?
18th Infantry were they buffalo soldiers?

I believe these are benet primed. the 18th was a unit from Kansas and they were not the buffalo soldiers. unfortunatly no complete bottles were found {YET}! There were some broken hutch sodas though , i'll post a picture of the train door to. Thanks for looking lol.
