44 nickel

Rob (IL)

New member
I was hunting a school that I have hunted for 3 years, it really is cleaned out. I was using my 10" EX. I hunted for 1.5 hrs and found 2 quarters and a zinc penny. It's not like my clad spot. I got a 24 VDI and the MXT said 10". I took out the pyramid shaped plug the depth of my Leschi blade which is 7+ inches. I then took out another chunk of dirt and there it was a 44 P War nickel. Rob

I was thinking of you Dennis. The signal was jumpy but I was digging all positive deep signals at this school. Rob

rcasio44, good find guy. BUT I beat ya, I picked a 1940 up from 4" down with my 950 coil. In pretty good shape too. I bought a camera but can't find how to get it on the net.
Spent 1 3/4 hours out this AM with a total of $2.05. HH all.

You may have beat rcasio44 on having the oldest nickel, but Robs nickel is a silver war nickel while yours is not. Yours in VF condition is worth .35 cents while Robs in VF is worth .90 cents. I would say Rob beat you. HH Dennis in Idaho
