44/45 tid

Does anyone dig up the 44/45 signals? I see a lot of them on my 505. Most are deep where i hunt ( parks ) but dont dig them because I dont want to tear up the nice grass I find them in.

I often hit on 44/46 TID's with my 705 thinking that they were deep quarters but experience has taught me that most that are very deep turn out to be hunks of metal trash. Now, with better pinpointing techniques and better tone discrimination, I can usually avoid them.

Since there is not a 44 notch segment on your X-TERRA 505, you could either have meant a signal that bounces between 42 and 45, or 45 and 48. If it is the 42 / 45, I'd be digging them. Could be a quarter or half dollar. If it is the 45 / 48, it is either a huge piece of silver or an aluminum beverage can. Check the diameter of the target with some of the previously discussed "sizing" techniques, compared to depth. I'd also lower my sensitivity a bit and sweep back over it with my coil held a few inches off the ground. Those are a couple techniques I use to whether or not I want to dig it or leave it and go to the next one. JMHO HH Randy

It could also be a 18K or 24K gold (white or yellow) ring like the one I found a few weeks back !

The 44 notch was for the 705 users. I should have stated that.I will check out your suggestion. I mostly see 45 to 48 range but will look for the 42 to 45 range better, Thanks for the replies, :)

44 = silver on my Xt70 ;)
