4000-4000

Just how closely can two people hunt in an area with the same type of machine,ei, Minelab 4000's ? Can't do it with a lot of machines, but how about Minelab? Curious.

Jerry, my wife and I both have 4000's. We cannot usually get closer then about 30 metres before one or the other starts to "pulse"

It's better if you have tuned both detectors separately so they operate a little more stable in close proximity. Any closer than about 40 or 50 feet was a problem for us.

See 2:56 seconds into the video (below) for an example of what happens when you bring two PIs together (a GP3500 & GPX4500). Sounds like the sound effects from The Forbidden Planet!

The vid isn't comparing the two detectors against one another, just the EMI of the two when they came together.

Cheers,

Marco

Jerry,
Depends on the size of coils being used. The bigger the coils, the further you will need to be apart.
If you are both swinging small coils, you can get pretty close.
I have found that if your partner is swinging a large coil, and you are using a small, you will notice the interference far before he will.
The bigger the coil, the more EMI that gets thrown out there.
