4"x6" or 5.3"

I have a 4"x6" coil on the way from White's, but I already own a 5.3" coil. Is there any advantage to keeping both, or is it a duplication? I am considering selling the 5.3" once my new one arrives, but I want to make sure I am not making a mistake.

Opinions?

Neil, it really depends on what your minerals are like in the places you hunt. I use both, but in different states. In Colorado where the minerals can be severe, I use the 4x6. Here in Amarillo our minerals are moderate to low and the 5.3 is my go to coil for residential areas(sidewalks). The DD coils will generally out-preform the concentrics in mineralized soil and thee 4x6 is a winner. Depth is also impressive on the small coils.
I would probably use/keep both, I like having a range of coils. You never know when you might get a chance to hunt a totally different kind of dirt.
Good Luck

John was right on and they each have their purpose, whether you will need both will be up to your needs. The 4X6 is usually used in extreme trash where targets could be as close as one inch apart.

ive had both and prefer dd coils.. did air tests on both with the mxt and were very close...so i chose the one that would get me closer to the trash..

I have and used both of them coils for my DFX. I usually use the 4x6. I do like the 5.3 though and may use it more often. I am just kinda used to the 4x6 and the way i works.

Yes Neil, you're making a mistake. . . keepum. It's better to have all necessary coils for those trashy areas. The 5.3 gives a little more depth. . . But you knew that, right?

I would not trade my 5.3 for a 4x6 but I would have traded my 4x6 for a 5.3. I fortunately have enough going on to afford keeping them both. The 5.3 is just so nice when it comes to pinpointing at depth and its nice ice cream cone area of detection really works for me. The 4x6 is just for the trashiest of areas and depth is not a primary concern.

I picked up an XLT today for $150. It is in great shape, but It had no rechargeable and had the Bullseye 5.3 coil, so I used my accessory coupon for the Blue Max 9.5" coil, and will stay with my 5.3" for the V3i for now!

the 4x6 is more for tot lots / park type hunting......... my 5.3 had more depth........ think The 5.3 would be more suited for deep coin hunting
