4 very minty steel pennies.

Found these in the reject slot at the coinstar at work today. They appear to be in mint condition.
I can only wonder if who ever tried to cash these in also dumped a ton of silver with them.

It's astonishing the things that go into the coinstar. A friend of mine ran into a young lady who was about to dump a bag of silver quarters into a machine. He offered her four times the face value on the spot and explained he'd still be making out like a bandit; she was quite happy about that. But if he'd been just a few seconds later... I often wonder what hidden, amazing finds lurk in those machines.

A few years ago I lost one of my hearing aids. I had been visiting a friend and on the way home the battery went dead. I placed the aid in my pocket. As I always do when I got home I put my change in a canvas bank bag. Searched everywhere for the hearing aid. My wife kept telling me that I needed to make an appointment and get a new hearing aid. She doesn't like me saying HUH. Three months after losing the hearing aid I took my bag of change to the credit union to run thru the coin counter. I poured a healthy bunch of coins in the counting machine and noticed a foreign object in the coins. I grabbed a hand full of the coins and had my hearing aid inn my hand

I have read that silver coins being heavier than clad will get rejected by the coinstar machines. I do not know if that is true but a lot of guys talk about finding silver in the reject slot.

I visit Kroger 2-3 times a week and at least one silver dime in the reject return per week so far. The only silver I find are silver dimes.
One time, someone took out 3 pennies and 1 silver dime and put them on the coin star ledge. Hmmm, they must not recognize silver.
