4 nice rings in one tot lot................no way............yes way.........:cam:

Well, what can I say?

I'll just tell the story.

It goes like this.......................................

I went back up to a town that is about 31 miles north of here.
I hunted a tot lot in a large park there a couple of weeks ago.
When I was there, I spied a small neighborhood park that was
not much more than a playground and a few tables. Not even
any parking.

Look at that oak tree behind my car...!!!!

I hunted there for about 45 minutes and finished one half of the
tot lot before I found my first coin, a penny.

I was hot sweaty and wanted to leave. But I went on and did
not make it another 6' before I found this.

A broken 14k gold ring. Nice before it broke.

I decided to hunt some more. When I got over to a small slide
I found 3 rings within a 9' circle.

This one is 10K gold. That makes 8 gold rings I have found this
year.

This one is 925 silver. Also stamped "CANADA" inside. It's nice.

This one does not test as gold. I think it says " ROMAN ' on the
inside. Don't know what that means.

I have never found that many nice rings in one tot lot before.

Wow, what a nice little tot lot.

None of the stone tested as diamonds.

I have no idea about the colored stones.

Here's the rest of the fruits of my labor.

When I was leaving, an old man stoped and said that a few
fellows in the neighborhood had one of them there metal
detectors and they hunted in the park a lot. He also told
me other places they hunted.

Maybe that is why there were so few coins.

But how did they miss the rings???????

I think it's because there are big spikes driven into the
playground all over the place to hold down the padding under
the shreaded tires.

That makes it difficult for the average MDer to hunt.

But I got a Compadre:detecting:

HH,

Hey tabdog great stuff I recall a post a couple months back of a guy mocking tot lot hunters guess u get last laugh

Going to try hitting a lot before work tomorrow hope i half your luck

Howdy Tabdog

Way to go on the gold! I have yet to get any gold this year, but the water will be warming up soon.I plan on getting the tiger shark out this month and hav'ing a little fun. You have good little detector, that compadre seems to be working well! HH...Hombre

They can laugh all they want.

That 14k broken ring weighs 3 grams.

That's about $55 in gold.

I'll get a little over $50 in my pocket.

I did have $1,300 in gold ready to sell.

Now I have $1,350. :)

And I'm trying to be conservative so I

won't be dissapointed.

Most of that $1,350 came right out of tot lots.

I have a bunch of silver jewelry too.

I have some nicer stuff that I'm not going to sell for scrap.

Gold and silver.

The silver jewelry is not worth that much as scrap. So the

workmanship may be worth more than the scrap price.

Anyway, I'm stoked right now from finding those rings.:hot:

I love tot lots and Tesoro's.:detecting:

HH,

Hay Hombre,

I missed out on most the beaches around here last year.

I got back into detecting in July 2007. I didn't get a Tesoro
and learn how to find gold jewelry until around November.
By then most the beaches got cleaned out.

But I found one that had been hunted but not cleaned out.
That was the only time I found multiple rings like I did in
the tot lot today

That one on the right has real diamonds.

The one next to it has one small diamond.

I plan on getting in there earlier this year.

Compadre is very hard to beat in a tot lot.

And you sure have a good beach machine in the TS.

Here's hoping we both get our share.

HH,

Congrats Tabdog! That is some fantastic hunting! I think you have it down to a science, keep it up, Beale.

Great news, Tabdog!

Pretty rings...

I'd be reluctant to met some of them.

I stated that I found $1,350 worth of gold so far.

That was a mind fart.

That gold total is actually more like $1,060.

That's all I have found.

But that's a lot as far as I'm concerned.

HH,

I am going to sell the broken ring.

The others I will keep.

If I can find a person who wears a lot of jewelry in that neighborhood.

And if they ID the rings correctly, I would love to return them.

HH,

Just an observation.

I usually can count on finding some nice ear rings,
pendants and charms in a tot lot.

But seldom do I find a nice ring. Right off hand, I can
only remember finding one gold ring in a tot lot. Also
I think I remember finding two silver rings. But that's
about it for all the tot lots I have hunted.

I found no nice ear rings, pendants or charms in this
tot lot. Only four nice rings.

I just thought that was strange................................

HH,

Very nice recoveries! I'd say that was one very productive little park area. As to why they were there? Well the absence of many coins make me think those who hunted the area were pretty much "Cherry Picking" the site for coins. And too, the proper tool for the job does make a big difference.
Pap

Yep, I'll agree with Pap!

So few actual coins in your recovery from that totlot, looks like someone was there before...

And they had a fancy whiz-bang machine that ID'ed coins very well for them.

They didn't waste any time digging 'iffy' signals!

Gosh Tabdog... You worked real hard for that pile... a lot of ups and downs!
