4 more rings today.... The ATX is not satisfied!

Awesome hunt today in the water here in New Zealand! I hunted on a beach with deep sand and some rocky areas. The grit was HORRIBLE in the atx shaft. Mainly trying to remove the shaft from the control box. What a nightmare! Hopefully as it wears in this will get easier! I hope Garrett monitors this forum as the machine itself is fantastic...just let down with a few areas like the shaft and locking spring.

I wonder if they will provide some improvement or fix to those 'early adopters'. Otherwise I think we will need an aftermarket shaft for the water!

Anyway on to the good stuff! Went with a friend (he was using my excal) and with the atx found....

2 x stainless rings (both 2 scoops deep) ; (

1 x 9ct female wedding band.... and

A large 22ct Indian mens ring - with what looks like a Nazi symbol - however this means "good luck" and prosperity in Indian tradition! Awesome ATX (hate the shaft locks) 😅

Yep! now that your ATX has the taste of GOLD, you will need to keep feeding it. Be prepared to dig DEEP! Do not wait too long to feed it again or it will start eating up the batteries.

I believe the large ring is indeed a Swastika and NOT the "it is good" symbol you spoke of. Why? The symbol is rotated 45 degrees, not in the correct orientation. I also do not see the 4 "dots" that should be in the symbol for good luck. But that my just be the way the designer wanted the look to be.

Hmm. .dont know. It is hand made. 22ct. Marked as 22 ct kdm . (cadmium). Various indian pictures look similar however...think it is worth melting this one down as it is ugly! Your advice the other day was great. 5 rings, 3 gold and a gold necklace pendant since then!

Congratulations on some great finds from across the pond. I can't wait until the ice thaws where I live. And Garrett does monitor this forum. They are aware of the grit problem. They made this video to help with those issues, and I am posting it here in case you missed it. Good luck!

I may take a video and post to youtube for them. The grit was not in the cams. Rather in the area where the shaft goes into the main unit. It was near impossible to slide out and deeply scored the upper shaft. I think they need to include some kind of velcro cover for main unit for water use in the interim. And possibly even for the shaft area. Kind of like a "tent peg bag" with elastic at each end. Yes ugly but would work. It is disappointing for an expensive machine to have this flaw.

Ps.

To Garrett monitoring the forum. I purchased in the USA. (No dealer broke any distribution laws). Your assistance is appreciated with the cam / grit matter.

you have a winner of a machine if this is sorted. It kicked the ctx seriously in some of the nz beaches. Best to get this sorted before minelab finally ship their competing waterproof pi.

Just thinking as it happened to me the first time I tried to move the totally round tube, the one that goes under the arm rest.
The lever under the ARM REST clamps down on the totally round tube, if the lever is NOT pulled out and pushed to the left of the detector (while the speaker is point at you) it will be very, very hard to turn the shaft.

You also want to be careful when pulling the round shaft out from the control box as only one small rivet holds the 90 degree locking ring to the round shaft. Also be careful when drying off the unit that you do not catch the ring on a rag, I would hate to break the ring.

I think I hear your ATX saying it wants to be fed again...
Good luck, I don't want to hear of your ATX eating batteries instead of gold.

Please dear Garret!

Send me a RoadRunner! ATX guts in a light prospecting detector. I promise I will work very hard to feed it gold and keep it safe from Wily Coyotes!

If you price it correctly, you will sell boatloads of them - and those pesky kangaroo nugget detectors will be sent back to that upside down place that they come from!

Don't let us turn into some sort of Cargo Cult, waiting for planes to drop the goodies we desire!

OK - I feel better now. Thanks for the ATX.
