4 months with the MXT....some thoughts.

Hello All,
So far I've had the MXT 4 months, and I must say that I am very pleased with it. I use this machine in Relic and CJ mode most of the time, and as of yet, I have not purchased a smaller coil for it. Here is what I love about this detector: Battery life; AA are not cheap if you do a lot of detecting so it's nice to get some milage out of a set. Most detectors that do what the MXT does will burn through a set of AA in 15-20 hours. So far I've averaged 45 hours on a set of alkalines. Processor speed; it will go as fast as your arm will swing it which is very impressive. Target ID; which I rely on 60% of the time, my system is easy, 4in or above I will use the target id almost all the time if it reads screwcap or above i'm diggin', anything deeper repeatable I will dig, BUT for me I've noticed that even then the target id is very accurate on deep targets. Target separation; excellent, nuff said. Depth; on small targets arguably second none (i'm sure someone will argue), on coins I've put the MXT against some reputable models and brands and it does very very well. Ease of use; as easy as you want to make it. I have some minor gripes but overall, they are not even worth mentioning. My military career/wife/daughter/supervisor/war on terror - keep my THing time limited, but I've dug my small share of silver with the MXT, and while sometimes the thing gets noisy and on my nerves,I don't think any other machine will fit the bill for me (at this time,( there is always room for more detectors)). Good luck to all, and keep the great posts coming.

Art, I too get good battery life with my MXT. I have found that Home Depot has AA Energizer batteries packed 36 for $13.95+ tax. Also Costco has a 48 pack of their house brand for $10.95+ tax.The expiration date is several years out.Home depot also has a 6 pack of 9v. batteries if you have a pinpointer don't remember price but I think it was around $1.50 a piece. Also the 9v are Energizers. Hope this is helpful.

I've had a mxt for 2 yrs, great machine. I use 8 rechargeable nimh(nickle metal hydride) AA batteries and get very good results. They last more than 40 hrs before needing a recharge. They are good for more than 500 recharges. Mine came from walmart(they're everready). The cost per use is very low, check them out.

My MXT is the same as has been said. From All of you. Always thought that recharable would be short life like most of the other detectors. Personally I'll take another look. Processor? Could not ask for one better. Fast as you can go is faster than you can dig the target. Get em Ken!

I got mine from Wall Mart in PHOTO section--Brand is DIGITAL There right up there for reserve power )2200)--They were the best I could find at Wall Mart---I do recomend them-------DeathWind1

I've had my MXT for 1 week and have already found 2 hammered coins with it. I am deeply in love! Art, if you ever happen to do a TDY to England, bring the MXT and I'll take you out to look for some "real OLD" stuff. I concur with all of your findings. I use relic mode mostly and my first hammered was at 11 inches. Gotta love it!

If you get a chance, try the new White's 14" DD on some of your ploughed fields. That'll mean more "hammies" for you! HH jim

Thanks for the advice Jim, but where do I find that coil? I've been scouring the web. Thanks in advance for any info.
