It's a simple and polite request. This long weekend was not only Independence Day it was also Canada Day, there are people with a lot of pride in their country on both sides of the longest undefended border in the world.
Correct spelling of your biggest trading partner's and closest ally's name isn't a lot to ask. (okay, so maybe we did whup your butt in the war of 1812 and burn the original White House to the ground but heck even good friends have a little tiff now and again)
