4 Firsts today!

Hi All,

Last weekend I spent about an hour at a local school looking for clad...and that is exactly what I found, about a buck 20's worth.

I decided to take my wife out there again today so she could practice with her new M 6 that just arrived this morning (I got mine about two months ago). We were hoping to just find a lot of clad again. I

started out finding a bunch of pennies, a couple of dimes, and then a quarter. My wife was getting used to detecting...and had found a few coins.

Then I walked to the other end of the school by a main road and a
a baseball field. About twenty yards from third base out in the field I got a good signal. When I dug up a 1910 Wheat penny with an "S" mint mark I was shocked! I didn't expect that at all! That is my oldest coin! or should I say was my oldest coin?! (The next oldest coin I had ever found at that moment was a 1923 Mercury dime-the only silver I have ever found). I walked about three yards and got another good signal. What popped out about gave me a heart attack!- a 1902 Indian cent! First one ever.

I went about another three yards and got an iffy signal. I thought maybe a nickel, and I only dug it up because I was getting weird signals in this field. When a 14 karat gold ring popped out I thought I was gonna die. This was a first for me as well!

After that, I gave the wife a few more lessons on the M 6 which she just got today. We swung "HAPPILY" a little more and then decided to swing away back to the car because it was getting dark. I got another good signal-between 77-82-solid coin/silver range. I decided to let the wife try that spot and dig it up. When a silver ring popped out we were quite ecstatic.

All of these were firsts for us! I doubt I will sleep tonight as I can't wait to go there again tomorrow!

Nice Finds Todd
The M6 is a nice machine and the numbers and tones are great.I have found 2 silver rings 1 14k gold ring,a 1902 Indian a 1936 mercury dime and a 1950 silver quarter plus various Wheaties. What kind of depth are you getting and what coil are you using. After digging pull tabs galore its heaven to see a silver or gold edge in the plug and find a ring.Keep the finds coming and try to post some pics. HH BOB

The M6 rocks! You guys had a great day!
(Wish I could get my wife into detecting. She says it's "Soooo.... nerdy.")

Lots of wives feel that way - - - until you find that 1 carat diamond ring!!! That thing will fly onto her finger before you can even blink your eyes. It doesn't come off either. It may not convert her, but you'll never get any slack for going out treasure hunting! HH

I was just using the stock 9.5 coil. Everything was 2-5 inches. The gold ring was about 5 inches down, the silver ring just 2 inches!

You either hit an old area or dirt has been brought in from an old area in this specific spot. In any case I would mark the approximate center of your old finds and work out from there and hope your finds keep coming..All comes down to the area as if nothng old sure not going to find any old coins...

My guess is that there was an old house in this spot before the school was built-it was about 20 yards from the road. Down the street is an old army camp dating to the 1850's. That's pretty old for here in Washington! I've been back but haven't found anything else old--yet!
