Ran the Sovereign over the 6" and 7" 8" and 9" dimes in ground and the detector was in auto sens, i could only get the 6" dime witch would seem to me what i was thinking this ground is badd but in manual and by turning the sens to 11oclock and cranking up the threshold hum a bit more i actualy got the 9" dime on a cople of sweeps and thats what the guy in the book said he was right . see i never would have known that, and how long would it have taken for me to find it out

If you are repeatedly moving from wet sand to dry, Auto Sens may be a good choice but otherwise the same rule applies as for all detectors alike, regardless of brand. The Auto sensitivities are "safe". You can almost always get more out of a detector by changing your settings to match your conditions manually.

Keep all the testing coming. Man after my own heart. You can never learn too much. Auto has got me coins 7.5" deep, and where I had gridded with my Explorers before. I believe it can unmask coins under certain conditions that a static setting misses for some odd reason.
