4.5x7 Excelerator search coil

steelheadfever

New member
Hello, I am not steelheadfever, I am his better half Bonnie and I wanted to tell you about my new 4.5x7 Excelerator search coil I just got through JW at Kellyco.
When I received the coil I wanted to go right out and hunt a park to try the coil out, but the ground in our area was frozen and covered with snow.
We went to Spokane,Wa. for Christmas and we took our MXTs with us hoping the ground conditions would be better. When we arrived in Spokane we found the conditions no better than at home in Caldwell,Id.
The day after Christmas we left for Idaho. It rained the whole way home, and when we got back we found the rain had removed all the snow and the ground had thawed enough for a hunt.
The following day my husband took me to an old farm house that was going to be torn down to make way for a new subdivision.
It was very cold and after an hour of hunting my fingers were frozen, but inside my pouch along with some other finds were three Mercury dimes and one Buffalo nickel. I found all four coins in the same hole. They were not very deep, only 4 or 5 inches down. I have never found a mercury dime or a Buffalo nickel before and I was very excited. My husband did not find any silver coins. He found some modern coins, toy cars and a toy gun. He was happy for my silver finds but I could tell he was disappointed he did not find any silver. Poor baby. This was my turn to shine.
I am reasonably new to metal detecting and I am still learning. The new coil gave accurate VDI readings and it was easy to pinpoint my targets, and I noticed that my MXT was quieter than usual with the new coil. I know I have only used the coil for about an hour or so, but it has been great so far and I look forward to more hunts using the coil. My husband said that I would like the coil and he was right, I love it.
I hope you all have a Happy New Year. Happy Hunting, Bonnie

Now those are my kinda digs! DD coils will run quieter than stock. I use the 8" and 5" and 8 by 14 dd coils. Rarely use the stock. HH

I don't have the 4.5 x 7 but do have the 5 and 8" also. They both run quiet and usally can be run with full gain. Rob

on the '37 Buffalo that is. :)

Check to see if it is a 'D' mint and if it only has 3 legs and not 4.

I think White's 6

Hi Monte, The Buffalo is a 37 D, but it has all four legs. Darn!!! Bonnie was the only one to find silver at the old home. She found them on the trail to the outhouse. I picture in my mind someone making a mad dash from the house to the outhouse in the middle of the night with their britches down around their ankles. They appeared to have be wrapped in some kind of cloth as there were pieces of cloth in the hole.
I went back to the site the following day, but the ground was frozen. Just my luck. I have had good luck using the 4.5x7 Excelerator this year and Bonnie has wanted one for awhile. I don't have the Whites 5 inch, but I've read your posts saying how good it is that I may just have to try one. I have a hunting partner who uses one on his DFX and he to swears by it. Hope things work out with your back. Oh by the way just where do you live? HH Dennis in Idaho
