No, I use the 6" EQ2 Pro and I really like it. I've found dimes down to 8 or 9 inches with mine and the seperation is excellent. I would think the 4.5 x 7 would be similar but with a litter bigger footprint.
I have one and it's a great coil. I do prefer my 6" excelerator coil over the 4.5 x 7 coil. Just seems like I get more wheats and silver with it. Both get great depth. You can't go wrong with either one!
The 4.5 X7 is an excellent little coil, I loved the size & shape of it, But it was a little short on depth compared to the 6x8 & 6" Excelerator a little big compared to the 6" for heavy trash and a little small compared to the 6x8...... If you could only have one smaller coil the 4.5x7 would be a good choice but if you have a X-5 or 6" Excelerator and a 6x8 there is no need for the 4.5x7.. And I think the 4.5X7 is over priced compared to the other 2 as well..wildherre.
I had the 4.5x7 for my E-Trac but it sold with my E-Trac when I got the CTX. The 4.5x7 is a great coil. I used it a lot and it was my favorite small coil because it could get into areas that other coils couldn't due to its shape. I think the 4.5x7 is worth every penny that it costs and mine made me many great finds. Hope this helps. -Marc
I used a 6" EQ 2 coil for two years - till it shorted out - made hundreds of great finds with it - what a fantastic coil !
Decided to get the 4.5" x 7" last Spring - hunted 95% of this season with it so far - love it !
The "football" shaped 4.5 x 7"seems to be better at getting into tight spots then the 6" and it also gives you a little more of ground coverage on each swing.
Both of these coils are fantastic in heavy iron - hit deep ( 7" to 8" Dimes - a swinging very slow - measured 9" Large Cent this Summer) - pinpoint like laser's and don't hang up on brush that much because of their closed design.
I'm sure you'll be very happy with either one - Good Luck !
Does anyone use the 5" Excelerator coil for the MXT pro? I'm in California soil don't know the coil for . I'm looking for small jewelry and coins in trash areas and somethings gold creeks. I have the 950 coil for beach and open trash free ground already.
The 4.5x7 is easily my favorite coil. It's on my Etrac 90% of the time. (The remaining 10% of the time is shared by the 15" WOT, 5.5x9.5 NEF and 5x10 Joey.)
I've found silver dimes as deep as 7"; gold jewelry at 4" and a silver bracelet at almost 10".
Light enough to make swinging the Etrac a pleasure for hours at a stretch, fair ground coverage and adequate depth. What more can you ask of your coil???
