#4 & #5 Barber,, #15 Mercury, Wheats, and a WWI Button

Had the day off, and decided to try a new spot. Well, it didn't pan out like I had hoped. I had good research, and aerials showed this spot had a beach back in the 1920's. The surrounding foliage didn't look like it had been flipped, so I thought I was gonna be working a decent new area. It was a bust. A few nickels and dimes, all modern, and wasted three hours of my day off. So what do ya do when all else fails? Go re-work the honey hole!

Back at the park where I've been having steady success, I took towards the west side of my favorite trees. Made a B-line for a new tree, and soon as I swung the coil next to it I hit the first Barber dime. I was shocked. Thought it was a Mercury at first. Filled that plug, and moved a few feet, and that's when I hit the Mercury dime. I originally thought it was a 1923. It wasn't. At home I discovered it was a 1943. So, I focused on this area for a few hours and found a few Wheats. As the sun was coming down I decided to head back in the direction of my sweet spot, and then my plan was to cross over that patch and walk towards the field where I found the Barber dime yesterday. I found a nice WWI Army button just meters from this new tree, and decided that was it for this "new" spot, and walked towards my old area. As I crossed back over the same exact spot I found a few Mercs and that silver Irish ring, I hit a faint signal. I stopped, slowed my swing over it, and kept getting a faint squelch. I was actually gonna walk away because it wasn't consistent, and wasn't 100% repeatable. In this hobby we take nothing for granted, and there's NEVER a perfect signal at depth. I figured "What the H3LL..." and dug a deep plug. Don't you know my 3rd silver turns out to be my 5th Barber of the month, and in a spot that I thought I had worked pretty hard. Goes to show ya that you NEVER work an area completely, and this is a perfect example as to why you should ALWAYS recheck those producing areas over and over and over again! Just a final note, the weather was the best we've had yet. 74 degrees and all sun. Best day to be at the park finding coins! :D
