3rd Time out with the new 705 and SILVER:beers:

Well took the 705 out for the third time and got a silver. Not just a silver but an 1842 half dime!! Found some other odds and end scrap copper and brass. but was the only coin. Was using the 6" High Freq. as the area is loaded with trash. Was an old home site many moons ago. Just a farm field now. This is my second half dime in the past year from this same home site.
Need to soak it and clean it up a bit.

Very, very nice find! Way to go!

But , your neck of the woods has much older coinage. Your finds put mine to shame.

Very rare find and two of them!!! Will those two half dimes pay for your X-705 or a portion of it? (Yes where to sell old coins, for the best price, is always a problem unless you are a collector.)

I also have an Musky Advantage(with TS 800, the 7.5" DD in 5 kHz) like you. Did you try this unit on that old homestead loaded with trash?? OR is the X-705 better with the 6" HF DD??? Thanks!

David, I need to get the Advantage out more it would be a good detector in this spot. I will let you know, I seriously need to include it more as it has always been an awesome detector in trash. Excellent for depth even with discriminator at about the 2:30 location.
Thanks for the suggestion!

This is a good point and I will get out the Advantage(yes no loss in depth with the discriminator cranked up) on the iron littered homesteads also like silverman said about small coils in this situation. Besides the 7.5" DD, I also have an Excellerator 5" DD for it that I have never used yet. Boy that might be good in those situations!!! I will try it on the homestead and keep you all posted.

No detecting today as it snowed and is cold, just very barely above freezing(about 35'F or 2'C now.) I would rather really love to live in a warmer-milder weather area like New Mexico or New Zealand. I do not care what anyone thinks, the north country sucks!! Yes sure the north is nice and beautiful, for a whole 4 months of the year, between LONG cold, snow, and rain! What a joke. I envy you in the southern areas. I love gardening and started tomato plants from seed indoors, in about January and some are about 4 feet high now and it is too cold to put them outside as they WOULD die from frost and cold yet as of May 12 now. In the south I would have a great LONG gardening and metal detecting season!!!
