3rd MD day this year, 10 mins in - I struck diamond !

I'm a newbie, and I'm not sure how often this type of thing happens... But today I went out for my third day of metal detecting this year, and about 10 minutes in I hit my first diamond ring! I'm using a White's Prism V with a 950 coil, and it was about 4-5" down, on the sidelines of the town soccer field. I have to say, it's quite an adrenaline rush. I think I'm hooked. I've got the bug.

Can't wait to get back out there tomorrow, and to learn how to work my machine; figure out the options and settings and when/ how to use them in different situations.

I'm also wondering how common this is. I don't expect the same results tomorrow, but hope I haven't used-up my luck for the year. I really want a gold doubloon! (Going to the beach next weekend).

For me the first day I found a case burried in an area that dates back to the 1870s. I found old 1800s coins pocket watches jewlery watch fobs. I thought I was going to get busted cause I have never seen anything like this before in the dirt. After that in the days and weeks and years to come. I found out I just had more luck then skill on my side. I would find relics that would blow me away. Now after 15 years I have both skill and a little luck but my finds keep growing. One summer I found six gold rings in three months at parks that was about five years ago. But I still feel lucky and always have
