3rd day this year, 10 minutes in, found my first diamond ring!

I'm a newbie, and I'm not sure how often this type of thing happens... But today I went out for my third day of metal detecting this year, and about 10 minutes in I hit my first diamond ring! I'm using a White's Prism V with a 950 coil, and it was about 4-5" down, on the sidelines of the town soccer field. I have to say, it's quite an adrenaline rush. I think I'm hooked. I've got the bug.

Can't wait to get back out there tomorrow, and to learn how to work my machine; figure out the options and settings and when/ how to use them in different situations.

I'm also wondering how common this is. I don't expect the same results tomorrow, but hope I haven't used-up my luck for the year. I really want a gold doubloon! (Going to the beach next weekend).

Thanks for looking! And Happy Huntin' !

I have found one, not that nice in 2 years of hunting.. Don't expect anything then you won't be disappointed! The guys that hunt the beach have better luck with ring ..
Congrats on the very big find so early on in the hobby!

Okay I hate to be the bad guy but that definitely looks like a junker to me, classic silver-over-copper look is what I'm seeing, but it isn't the best picture so I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for you. Take it to a jeweler or goldsmith and they will be able to tell you what you really have.

Congratulations!!:clapping: Days like that are few and far between!! I bought a Diamond Selector II made by Horizon for $15 off of ebay or amazon. It's the same one used in a local jewelry store that I used to take my rings to. It will save you a trip downtown. If the diamond is real, then the ring is also good....

Congrats. Hoping that you find many more..I'll tell yah...the feeling never gets old ;)
