3d pinpoint

dem

New member
at times I get a high tone but I cannot get a pinpoint sound. Is this because it is too deep? If so, then I should dig some of the dirt away until I get a pinpoint. Is this correct? Thanks for your advice in advance......

I think you are probably hitting the edge of deep junk which gives you the high tone and usually won't repeat from several directions. Throw a aluminum soda can on the ground
and swing in the immediate area and you will get the idea as you will get high tones while at least a foot away from the can. In otherwords nothing in the ground under the high tone to pinpoint...CZ3D should catch a 10 inch silver dime and easily pinpoint it even thought the sound will be weak. Under these circumstances dig a 4-5 inch plug and you will find the pinpoint improves greatly..Sometimes too high sens. or poor ground balance will also give you an unstable unit and give you high tone ghost signals which also may be the case remember put the coil to the side of the beep push the button and then go over it for best results.

If you don't move the coil to the side and hit the pinpoint button and hold it right over the beep while pressing the button it may detune especially a deep target and you won't be able to hear it...

Dem, I have found the 3d to find coins deeper than the pinpoint audio will pick up. It is not junk all the time. You are correct in opening the plug and rechecking. Try to get an idea of where it is and not use the pinoint button. I found many silver coins when I could not get any audio in pinpoint. It is wierd trait of the 3d. Also, try to dig faint, one way signals. I did this one day at a field behind an early 1900's school and found a bunch of 10 to 12 inch coins, including a 1865 2 cent piece. Play around with the 3d and you might be amazed at what pops up.
