34.6 grams of 14K chain....a nice finish to the year!!!

After having a pinched nerve and unbelievable shoulder and arm pain ending up in the E.R. and having pain shots including morphine a few weeks ago, it was just a thrill to get out on the beaches after not being able to detect for too long a time.
I was blown away when I detected this super nice chain and seeing the 14K stamp and verifying with acid testing just to make sure it was not plated, really made my day. Aside from the pinched nerve problem, It's been a great year for detecting for me and I look forward to another successful and fun filled year of detecting more gold and silver targets!! G.L. and H.H. & H.H. (Happy Holidays)!!!

Wow! Can't ask for much better than that!

Merry Christmas and HH

Hummina,! Hummina,! Hummina! Thats indeed about the best example of a find that shows us all why we should NEVER give up, and fight through the pain! Ok, you can stop for now and rest that wing! :clapping: Dam nice find!

Congrats ! That's one nice chunk of gold

Thanks guy's and yes Mud, I have some residual pain but have the pills to manage that! I expect for that pain to go away with some 'detecting therapy' LOL!! There is nothing like the thrill of seeing gold in your scoop and you forget about any discomfort you may have at the time!! Merry Christmas to all and looking forward to many more great gold and silver targets next year (including a trip across the pond to England again)! G.L. & H.H.

Awesome job on the gold and I hope the shoulder heals up. I have what they call thoracic outlet syndrome in my left shoulder. Nerves and arteries get pinched in the outlet area. Ice - stretching- therapy were what I went through. I still have some symptoms which come and go so I can relate.

Just wondering if the chain was a water or dry sand find? Also, what type of machine were you using and how deep was the chain. I'm curious because chains can be difficult for some machines.

Thanks Atlas for the well wishes! It sounds like you have pain issues as well. It sounds very painful but I hope it doesn't restrict you from doing what you need and love to do (detecting)! The chain was a dry sand find and very shallow, barely under the top of the sand. I find most all of my good targets are within an 1 to 3 inches of the top and so I don't look for deep targets. Almost always, a deep target is a bottle of beer or soda cans that people have buried. Rather than taking them off the beach to a trash can, they will bury them. I use a minelab Safari for the dry and an ATPro for around and in the water. It registered 0 to 1 on my Safari. Chains are usually all over the scale and so I dig everything in A.M. (all metal).

Good to hear back and thanks for the concern about the shoulder but thankfully it doesn't keep me from detecting. I recently (June) added an AT Gold to my detecting arsenal and love it. I have 7 pieces of gold with it so far all fresh water finds. I use my Excal and Surf PI in the salt.

with out starting a chain show down this is my best chain 35.5 gram marked 750

Very nice chain tomcatpl !! you beat me by a little less than a gram!! Maybe in the New year we can have a friendly competition for the heaviest chain? it would be fun and would provide the impetus to get out there and swing!!:twodetecting: GL & HH!

Ggggggggggs wheres mine for the year? Serious bling bling there. I just wonder how fast that thing got put away in a safe place so you didnt loose it? For me that would have been a ONE AND DONE hunt.....id been off the beach sooooo fast headin to the house.

Yep, same thing here, One and Done! My knees would have come unhinged from shaking, and would barely made it back to the truck!
We never get tired of looking at Chains, especially those that look like they fell off a logging truck!
