32.2 oz Nugget found at Moore Creek

Hi,

We had a short season at Moore Creek this summer due to the recession. But the finds were better than ever - over 86 ounces of gold was found by 28 people in a two week period. There were 12 people the first week and 16 people the next.

We have a "day off" between weeks, and so people who go for both weeks get a free day. Ken P from Alaska stayed for two weeks and got that free day, and it really paid off. With a 32.2 oz nugget found not 300 feet from the main camp! Other major finds were a 6.4 oz nugget, a 4.7 oz nugget, a 3.5 oz nugget, and three nuggets that weighed over 2 ounces.

Way to go Ken! Moore Creeks largest nugget and one of the largest ever found with a detector in Alaska.

Steve, That is one heck of a find and for it to come from your place (Moore Creek, AK) is even more special.
I don't recall seeing any larger nuggets being found in the last few years that are as solid as it is. Has a specific gravity test been done?

I noticed Ganes had a short season as well and my England trips have been tough to fill also. Hopefully things turn around for next season and be good to all of us.

With your price decrease of $500 and making your Hunt cheaper than most others, I may be interested in bringing a group up to your camp next season.

Email me direct at gerrys1det@cableone.net with the specifics.

Gold like that sure gets the blood flowing..

Thanks for Sharing

Hi Gerry,

The price reduction was this summer only in response to the recession. It will be back at $2500 a week next summer, especially as our results this summer were so good. Already people clamoring to come back.

Every year we get nuggets up to 6 ounces but anything larger than that has been very rare. I'm proud of the fact that the last two summers everyone went home with gold from Moore Creek. Booking for 2010 should be starting up the first week of August.

That big boy has some rock in it but only a few ounces at most. It is nearly all gold.
