305 or 505,which one?

I only detect as a reason to get away from the house. I enjoy finding coins and whatever pops out of the hole. There is no gold in may area, maybe a lost ring or two,but i don't need a gold detector, for that. I guess you could call me a part time-part timer !
Anyways,I've looked for a good used 50,to no avail ? Why ? I don't know, just thought i would like one ? Now i am thinking of just getting a new 305 ! I could get a 505,but i don't fell that the little bit of difference,in the 2,is worth the $150 in price. Or is it,to just play treasure hunter ?
I now have a couple of ACE 250's,that helped me dig lots of holes and coins, but i fell i just need to try another kind of detector ! Am i being foolish ?
I am leaning towards the new 305. Oh,which one do i need [want] ? I tried to find a close out 50,but they are all gone,or close to the price of a new 505 !
What do you folks think ?

The 305 has more features than the 50 . I had a 50 and it was a good one. But I have heard some people like the 305 better than the 70. I have never used one of the 305's , but the 50 locked on better than the 70. I figure the 305 will lock on better better than the 505 , because it has less target segments. Both are good machines. I just sold a brand new 305 for a friend . He won it and does not detect if I had 325 dollars I would have bought it.

I agree with 7centsworth. I had a 705 and it seems like the 305 is quicker to respond.(fewer segments???).
I have been hunting with the 305 for about a month using all the MF and HF coils.
You will be amazed at the 305's ability to lock on to targets and how easy it is to ground balance. I think it boils down to
finding a detector that makes you want to dig the "iffy" signals. The 305 can be that detector in the right hands. Contact
Richard at Backwoods he will make you a great deal on any new detector.

Hi Willy,

I too started with an Ace250 , good machines.
I still use it around playground equipment as it is IMHO unsurpased in that situation due to being able to get so close to the metal framework .

I got the Xterra and never looked back after the initial learning period.
I will find them more sensitive also the more info ( target id no's) and better sound quality given to the user gives you a better idea as to whether to dig or walk away.
Either one -whatever suits your budget and takes the coils that you want to use.
Happy detecting.

Always when you upgrade you will get a more. I'd go with the 505 and if you went with the 305 you'd be always be thinking should i have gotten the 505. You will be happier with the 505.
