3030 null in Iron like my last machine?

Hello, I am on the fence about the 3030. I have a chance to get a great deal, and am about ready to pull the trigger, but need to know how it is as far as recovery goes. My etrac was amazing, except in iron. It would null over iron so much I had to bring a Gold Bug to find coins in iron it would not pick up. Would I need to keep a second detector for iron still, or does the 3030 not have that null I dislike so much?
Thanks

I am confused only two detectors? I have 10. LOL! The 3030 nulls but its so faint to me as compaired to the Excalibur or GT that it goes unnoticed. I can't say as compaired to the Etrac as I have never use that machine. I have found several coins with iron attached to them with the 3030.Not sure this helps.

I have found coins where I was literally getting the iron and the coin signal at the same time. I picked up the coin 4 way and found the coin, found iron chunks as well in the plug. Stuck the pinpointer in the dirt after I grabbed the silver and it sounded off strongly. There was even more iron in there with it.

The 3030 will null in iron, no doubt about it. But here's the great thing. No matter how much discrimination you have, as long as the target you are looking for is not discriminated out, that coin will come though.

I did some testing through the summer and fall will heavy discrimination. I made a program that had everything discriminated out except ferrous lines 9 through 13. Even with that much discrimination, I was still finding coins to 9 inches deep.

Go right back to the last place you hunted with your E-Trac and the CTX will amaze you. Yes it will null on iron if you have iron discriminated out BUT you will find the good targets. At times you can see the iron along with the other targets but the CTX 3030 will show the good targets over under or beside iron and other trash. Just remember the CTX 3030 is not a souped up E-Trac. The thing I miss the most between my E-Trac and CTX is my Sun-Ray probe. Good luck and HH :minelab:

I prefer to listen to the iron with combined mode. But then there are exceptions. But I mostly do listen to it. The tones of the CTX 3030 are second to none. But if you prefer to discriminate the iron out you will be very surprised how a coin will blast through the null.

I have found targets that I think I would have passed up with an open screen, just because of all the iron noise in the area. I use GoneHuntings Multi Tone Coin.

You can control how much nulling the CTX will do. When a detector nulls, it is telling you that you have a target under the coil that you have discriminated out. Less discrimination = less nulling, but like others have said, the operating/recovery speed is much improved over the E-Trac and a good target WILL break through a null if the good target return signal is stronger than the target return that caused the null.

If you have a great deal on a CTX, it sounds like you could test a CTX and if you don't like it, you could sell it and not lose anything. You can't beat a deal like that.

I have an 2 etracs, a ctx, f75se fisher, and a souped up whites I won't mention. As far as the CTX goes here's my unbiased opinion. The CTX will find things the etrac won't. Coins on edge are one, also deeper lower conductors. As far as iron goes. The ctx is better than etrac. I don't have the small coil for the ctx, but if the small coil is better in trash than the stock coil oh boy!!!!!!!!! I would say there's not one detector that does it all. But after using the above detectors the CTX is about as close as you can get right now. For medium to high conductors I think it's the best out there. The CTX probably comes up a little short on the lowest of conductors, but if I had to make a sacrifice it would be the low conductors. Something else definitely worth mentioning is the updates being provided by minelab for the CTX. It's like getting a somewhat newer detector with every update without having to purchase another detector. I have found silver coins, mostly dimes, in the worst nail/iron infested areas. I can't count the times I've almost passed up good silver coins. The CTX seemed to always give a tone in this same little spot with garbage signals all around. The good signal was repetitve though. If you get a CTX you have to learn to trust it. Since no inline probe is available, you will undoubtably be a diggn some iron. But if you heard a good tone don't give up. Countless times I've dug 1-4 nails out of a hole and keep running the garret probe around and eventually come out with the loot. I've hunted a many small areas I pounded with the etrac and I have found at least one coin in all but one with the CTX. Did I find as many coins in these places as I did with the etrac? No
But remember the etrac is no slouch either. The CTX runs a lot cleaner over the ground with a higher sensivity. And don't underestimate the auto setting on the CTX either especially in heavy iron/trash. I fully expect the CTX to be a top notch detector for a good while. By the way, do you notice, none of the other big dawgs have released a new top of the line detector yet? Wonder why. I figure the CTX is hard to top. This is my story and I'm sticking to it. Cheers.

Thanks for all the info guys! I am going to get one with all of this information. Just wanted to make sure the null wasn't as bad, I always hated that on my last machine. Sounds like coins come through that iron, and I can't wait to try it.
Thanks

the small coil is awesome in high trash. If that is where you know you will be hunting
just bite the bullet and get a small coil from the getgo
