3030 and excalibur

Had a target next too iron and what seemed like a coin with the Excalibur I was getting a response in both directions
I had a modified jay program and have coins and jewelry all high tones iron low
I used a open screen on the3030 and tried to hear the coin. But all I got was 1/30 numbers.
I was even looking at the screen and everything was at top(cursor )
Was wondering if was my program I had on
Is there a good way to tell a good target next to iron( certain settings).
I should have tried a factory program. But the tide was coming up.

Did you dig it to see what it was . The only signals I get that read 1 30 to 1 50 are aluminum cans and big iron . To hear coins next to iron you have to have your fe line set at 32 or higher 35 if you can't hear the iron you won't hear the coin. Simple test -0- nail equal - 0 being coin run your detector with fe line at 20 then at 32 you will hear a signal at 20 but will be low whereas 32 you will get a high tone on the coin .Less disc meaning fe line position is what allows you to hear the coin . sube

As SUBE said, that FE1 line is almost always a giant piece of junk. Whenever I have dug iron next to a coin, the FE-CO display typically bounced up and down trying to show both. If you have a big red blog in the bottom, its likey iron. If its all up top its likely a very big conductive target.

Yesterday I dug a 1:48 on the CTX in 5ft of Gulf water and the target was a silver pendant ("DY 925" - for David Yurman) with an attached black stainless steel 22" chain necklace. Retail value: $1,000! I often get iron wrap around in the neighborhood of 1:44-49. But FE 1-10 targets may also be large items like silver dollars or ounces of silver as in my case. Only reason I dug it was because I didn't see the display because of murky water. At the same time, this is one reason to keep open the upper right quadrant and be aware of the effects of target size on FE.
Target trace anyone?

Yes some bigger silver items well land here but ground coin would be the one to watch for a 1 44 to 1 50 most people have this open because it could go to these #s ferrous coin not so much .sube

Yap, I always work in ground coin and keep aware of the possibilities of large silver (Spanish) items in Florida waters that may distort my usual FE 12 readings and even thoughts. lol
