30 years and a new first for me.....:clapping:

Bust dimes are a rare find in this part of the Midwest but persistence paid off.. A buddy and I hunted a field where a settlement was in the 1840's - 50's but pretty much dried up when the iron horse came through the countryside about 10 miles away.

In addition to the 1827 Bust dime, I dug a 1850 LC and a silver disk the size of a half dime but worn so smooth I can't tell for sure what it was. The field picture is my hunting buddy, McLucky............ he found a real old ring there with the stones still intact.

What is left of a spoon/fork Bart, a couple of those were found, none were silver. (That is the top part)

very nice find! Congratulations Larry

WOW, great finds Larry & it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!---Those are coins that a lot of us (me for sure) are still hoping to find someday.----Congrats!

Thanks Del.

After 30 years any first is a reason to celebrate. Congrats on a great find.

I think you are right Jerry. I measured the diameter and in it's worn state, it is 16 mm which rules out the half dime and three cent piece. I did find a faint block R which would be in the right place in DEI.GRATIA on a half Real. Thanks for the heads up.

Congrats Larry. Nicely done. Let's see.......same detector......field looks similar to those I hunt........I find old spoons, reeds and various other "homestead" items......... all I'm lacking is the Bust coin
Might call for a trip "back east" someday.

HH Randy

Thanks Randy, you know my number.

Whoa! Great find!

Nice to find something old that is new .....to you! congrats

Sweet stuff Larry!! I had the same experience last spring it only took me 40 years to get my first bust in north Mo. My buddy got the holed half dime though lol

That's awesome Larry. Christmas came early for you.
