reading all the postings and seeing the pics keep me motivated. thanks to all those who take the time to add to the site and I hope you all enjoy my pics and short story.

started detecting in NYC parks on June 6th and so far the tejon has paid for itself yet again. lots of trash but slow methodical swings have paid off.

244 clad quarters
244 clad dimes
67 wheaties
1 war nic
4 silver wash qtrs
6 silver roosies
13 mercs...one was a badly worn 1916 but I see no mint mark...too bad it wasn't a "d"
heavy silver ornate antique handled butter knife
sterling "cancer" zodiac pendent
sterling cuff link
plain sterling ring
sterling "trinity" ring
14k yellow gold earing
10k white gold heart pendent with 10 diamond chips
18k white gold diamond ring appraised at $180.00
10k yellow gold 1972 class ring...initials do not match registered alumni on school website

That's quite a haul. Congratulations!

What do you like best about the Tejon? Anything you'd change about it?

Heck ya you did great! Congrats!

Thanks Caballo.

I am not an authority on the tejon. It is my first detector (had it for almost 4 years) I use the 5.75 widescan but I plan to buy a 5.75 concentric.

I like the dual discrimination the best about the tejon.I guess the only thing I would change is the battery covers...I keep an elastic band over them to keep them closed.

Very nice, Congrats.

Now just wondering if you could post something on the depth you are getting on the Tejon.

Thanks

Ron in WV

Ron,

Sorry to report that the depth at max discrimination with the 5.75 widescan is a pathetic 3 to 4"

I plan on getting the 5.75 concentric. I am told by Tesoro that I can at least double the depth at max disc.

The places I am hunting are too trashy for a larger coil. I tried my stock coil but it was a waste of time.

Man, you're wearing it out. Nice finds!

The 5.75 concentric coil does go deep.

The more disc the less depth you have.

Have hit some places where the trash was so dense that there was no depth until most of the trash was also removed, even with the 5.75 inch concentric. It makes for slow going and in a park you need to be sensitive to restoring the target recovery area to pre-recovery condition.

It looks like you are doing well at those parks!! Some fine finds!
