Went back to the place I got the merc the other day. I was picking up some wheaties here and there and no clad to speak of. Hit a nice hint of deep silver and knew it was old as soon as I touched it. It was in pretty nasty shape but I was one really happy boy :lol: Also picked up another '41 merc and a '64 Rosie.

Thanks Mike... That's actually a quarter. If it was a half, you would have definitely heard me holler in Michigan :lol: (although I'm surprise you didn't hear me yell this afternoon :) ) Found me a good spot! I'll email you...

I made an electrolysis coin cleaner and darn if it doesn't work great! I even tried it on the '41 merc I found at the beach. Took about a half hour but it cleaned up pretty nicely (it was really black). Unfortunately, time and tide took a lot of detail out of it but all in all it doesn't look bad.
 
That quarter either came out of the water or it was in soil that is wet often. Great find buddy! :)
 
I always liked not knowing for sure what one had because otherwise the surprise would be less. Sounds like this was a great surprise and a wonderful addition to all you have found so far. COngrats Joe.
