3 Ring Jewlery Day

TURNMASTER

Active member
Got out for a couple hours and thought I would hunt jewlery. I figured coins would also have to be dug, but rings were my focus.

I covered a lot of ground and at about twice the rate that I usually hunt. 18.75Khz 5 x 10 coil, Sens down around 15, Tracking on,and in pattern 1.

The silver ring hit like a solid dime and as far as I was concerned I was digging a dime. The earring should have been a nickel or pull tab, had a double blip to it and the broken junk, sorry I do not recall. I did dig 10 or 12 pull tabs and some can slaw. $1.61 in clad. I passed on a few zincs at the very end and any thing under an 8 with a low tone. Every 2, 4 and 6 I have ever dug was foil and not that good a tone.

I think I will get out just after jewlery again soon.

Got the itch from this post; http://www.findmall.com/read.php?18,1241770

Nice finds. That one you're holding is sure a pretty little thing! Don't give up digging those lower positive numbers. I dug two very small gold rings that each read a solid 6. If I recall, one was 10K and the other 14K. Digging those "non-typical" signals that others pass up can make your day! Thanks for sharing the pics. HH Randy

6, how often do we see good targets come in at the 2 and 4? Gold chain maybe?

My goal here is to find the most consistant jewelery IDs and kind of build a pattern for just jewelery. I am thinking that almost all of the positive IDs would be jewlery. However, after reading that other post it makes me wonder about the demographics at certain parks and sports fields and targeting that way. For instance the field these finds came from were for girls softball. This complex opened when my oldest girl played and goes from 6U to 18U. Girls have to remove jewelery to play and maybe mom drops it in the grass along 3rd base out of bounds. What metals fo teenage girls in this part of the city wear? I am thinking silver. That big ring I found a few weeks back was silver with Black Hills Gold inlays and hit like a Nickel, but the ring posted here hit like a dime. Where to start? Well I guess I know where to start, back at the bal fields!

Honestly, I don't remember having dug any at 2 or 4. Might have, and would have made the post if I did. But can't remember any off the top of my head. In addition to those rings I mentioned, the 3-cent Nickel that I dug a year or so ago read a 6. I've only dug the one. And hiding out in that corn field, with that low of conductivity, many would have passed it up thinking it was foil. JMHO HH Randy

Yeah now there is the problem, foil. At the fields that are build for youth... holy cow. Although not as bad as at the local park by the picknic table that the stoner kids hang at.

I found some of those posts I referred to.....
