3 nickel pocket spill saves the day !

Met up with Park Pirate this morning to get in some hunting before the heat, humidity and rain moves in this afternoon. Pickings were slim with just a hem weight and an old military button in the pouch when I get a deep, iffy nickel signal. The previous 20 solid nickel signals yielded nothing but can slaw, beaver tails and other junk so I didn't expect anything different when I dug the plug. Was surprised to pull a Buffalo nickel, then a V nickel and then a second buffalo nickel out of the ground. A nice 3 nickel spill to make the hunt worthwhile. Also pictured in a very nice 1895 Canadian large cent I dug Sunday morning.

Nice digs Ed! Those 3 old nickels are exactly 3 times the amount I've found for the year- any dates on the Buffs?? Sweet LC as well! See ya in the fall!

V nickel was 1896. Buffs look to be 1919 and maybe 1917 ? So far this year: 1 shield, 7 V's, 20 Buffs and 4 war nickels ! On pace for another 80-90 year.

Nice pocket spill - the Canada penny is in great shape.
