3 Months treasure

HawaiiTreasure

New member
I got my Sea Hunter Mark II about 3 months ago. I have been to the beach 10 times and have managed to retrieve 20 rings from the water. I haven't found any of real value but it's always exciting to pull up the scoop and see the ring in it. I use a photo to log my finds, or I should say my keepers. I toss the junk (pull tabs, batteries, caps, etc.) Here are my photo logs so far. I'm hoping the next trip yields that elusive valuable diamond ring. I am new to this. Is it common to find so many rings and non with a diamond? I am starting to think that I am passing right over them.
 couldn't upload photos (1.04mb)guess they are too big.

Found a temp. fix to include the pics. Not very good quality, but I'm working on it.

You have a very capable unit in the Mark II. I have personally owned 3. They found me and my wife much loot. Watch the bottom side of the coil though, as it will wear through the epoxy and you will be falsing BIG TIME! If you have not done so already, Loctite Aqumarine Epoxy will keep you out of trouble there, on the coils lower surfaces. Keep pluggin', the diamonds will come. My first season (Jul. '04) yielded only 1 or 2 small ones for me. Well, the rest is history!

It sounds like you may be talking about Raymond, probably under 5 feet tall? If so, he is still in Waikiki and has been using an Excalibur lately. I've never talked to him personally as he seems to keep to himself, did hear he is an excellent chess player though.

Thanks Gulf Hunter, Never thought about inspecting the bottom of the coil. I usually just check connections and battery power before I hunt. I just checked it and there is a hairline crack on the bottom of the coil and it is fairly scratched up. Alot of correl in some of my hunting spots. I guess I will send off for a new one (bigger this time).

Don't go there on the big coil (10X14). I wore it out in around 2 months, right through the epoxy and it's a bear in the surf (coil flop). The best coil for the unit is the factory one, with the epoxy. When you get the new one, apply the epoxy (let it cure thoroughly) and run the new settings ONLY and go find the gold. It's on! GH

Garret is a good company. I told them about the crack and they said send it back. The 8" has done me good. I think I will still get a bigger one, too. I am sending the coil back tomorrow which means I'm out of business for about 10 days. I should have gotten the backup before I needed it (that would have been smart). I can picture the waves flippin that bigger coil. On several occations it flipped me. Thanks, Charlie

Thanks, actually it was 9 out of ten trips. I got skunked on one trip last month. Just a few coins that hunt. Odd thing about the coins, not one of my coins is dated earlier than 1978. I wouldn't be wondering about that if I had not found so many coins. Hawaii had a power outage yesterday and I had nothing to do so I washed my coins. Used vinegar and salt to take off the blackness. I have $58.37 in coins. Not one silver. odd.
