3 in 1 HOLE PLUS A BONUS

Well-known member
Hi Everyone, Larry, the General and I took off for a ride to the Southern part of the state and did a little detecting. I found a few good keepers and a first. The three Mercury dimes (41-44-45) and the Mexican coin (45) were in the same hole. :surprised: Boy was I doing the happy dance. I think that's the first time I've found a pocket spill of silver. I saw the first silver dime on my cloth, then I thought I saw something light colored near the side of the hole and sure enough. Then the other two coins came out also. YES YES YES!!! I also found the 5 wheat cents in the same place. The oldest of all the coins was the 1940 Wheat. Needless to say, I came home a happy person. Tired, but happy. Oh and Larry's finds? Um, well, oh, uh, he got some clad to help fill the piggy bank. Shame on me. :cheekkiss: Thanks for looking and HH, Nancy

Nancy:
When you say you went to the Southern part of the state,
was it a house, a field, park? Just curious. Nice finds BTW.

We were down past Springfield. We had permission to hunt a couple yards. One yard we didn't find much of anything but a couple clad coins. HH, Nancy

Are you trying to say the MXT beat out the V3????? Only kidding Larry... Awesome finds... all in one hole WOW!!! HH Jack

Wow Nancy. That's a dream honey hole. You bettered my entire career of silver coins in one hole. I bet you were wondering if the cross was next but I think 3 silver dimes in one hole is a pretty clear gift. Congrats on a special day. You'll remember that one.

Those Mercs have great detail.
Congrats on the good find

Well, yards are good places if you can get the permission.
In my area we have some OLD houses. I checked out our local library
history room and found two folders of old photos of some of those homes.
The oldest dates to 1850 and up. I'm working up some short pieces on some of them
so I can go knock on doors, ask questions, and then hit them with, "I wonder if you
would let me metal detect around your yard. Not going to make any big holes.
Just want to see if there is anything in the ground that might reflect some of the
local history.? I've had some good luck with the approach.

I've got to do something as gas is so expensive and I cant get to the way out
places anymore. Besides, there is plenty of scratching ground for this old Kat
right in my area.

I also found that there used to be a mineral springs in a small town about 12 miles outside of town. Its very close.
I would never have found out about it if I had not been rummaging through some old photos and clippings
from the library. There was a resort in this town once, but it burned down. Only two buildings remain and one
is a converted private home. Amazing what you find out and amazing what your local library has on hand in its
historical folders. I bet every library has a history room with folders about specific places near you. All of a sudden
I had a near heart attack! Dang! And as a bonus I came across apaper from a journal from 1940 about other
old mineral springs and one time resorts around my home State.

I'll keep you informed.

Third time is a charm, glad to see someone is getting out. It is still snowing here but looks like this week is going to be clear & going to warm up into the 50's so I might get out.
