3 Cell phones, 3 years, 3 stories.

Few years ago found a cell phone on a beach that surfers use. (Spring break) Battery pretty low but managed by calling (home) contacted the owner. Teenage girl. Told her , found her phone. "She asks me if her drivers license was with it. ? Didn't find any license. Well anyway she proceeds to tell me where she's staying, and about what time I'd be there. One hour &a half away. Can you believe this girl ? "So I says, Look Missy, your phone will be at the Hotel desk." Ah, ok.

Couple years ago, found cell in front of a Tiki bar. (Spring break) Fooled around, found ( Dad ) punched it. Guy answers, Attorney at Law. Told him what's up. About called me a liar. Says his Son is not down at any party beach, impossible. Well he may not be, but his phone is ! And it will be at the Hotel desk. After a little pause, "Thank you"

Couple days ago. Hunting the surf line. About 10 yards ahead, just on the dry. Looked like a wallet, fresh drop. Turns out a cell, in a belt clip case. Couldn't believe nobody found it before me. Anyway, fished around punched home no answer. Found a name in favorites. Got the son , 600 miles away. Asked him if he knew anyone down here. Yeah, his parents. Well I'm calling from their phone I found. It will be at the Hotel desk. Clerk said man in his early 70's showed up. Besides himself with relief. Said his wife was sick over it. Said they were thankful with all their hearts. Well that felt good.

Found over $300 in a wallet many moons ago delivering papers. The guy's apt. No. is on it, so I wake him up, since he was a bail bondsman and the wallet was stuffed with bond receipts. At first angry about being awakened, he literally fell back against the wall in relief that I found it. He grabbed the wallet, closed the door in my face!
A few months later, I found a wallet belonging to a teen, with $13 in it. I called and the next am he and his mom appear and try to give me the FULL $13 for returning it- which, of course, I refused. Two different worlds!

Now there's a comparison Sling. Can tell the way the teen was being raised. Nothing wrong with being a bondsman, just wasn't raised right. Doesn't always work that way, but do a good turn, one might come back at you. Karma

Found a pager once at the zoo.... nightmare to return.

Recently came across a smart phone in the grass, dried it out and charged (locked)
Dropped it off at the phone store with same brand and they found owner.

Great subject dancer, i recently found a cell phone on the industrial park road between work and the local cconvenience store..drove a quarter mile down the road and found another one which had been run over and was in sad shape.. my fellow worker was going through the good phone for contact info when it rang..he answered it,it was the guy who had lost it an hour prior..turns out both were his..he drove an hour away from where we found it as we had to get to our jobsite... he was grateful for the phones return as it had all his business contacts and other unreplacable info in it.. he said he couldnt work without it...gave us 20 bucks and a tee shirt from his company which i accepted graciously. ... several years back i found a large wallet laying on the shallow concrete divider in a busy intersection... this wallet was loaded with like 30 credit cards many of which were foreign, 2 french passports, $204 cash and many many business cards.... i took it to the nearby state police barracks and gave the officer my business card... 2 hrs later i got a call from one extremely grateful frenchman... seems they had been driving the entire day before and he left it on top of thier car as they were unloading the car to check into a local motel soon after which his business partner drove for some take out food not realizing it was on top of the car...they searched all night and couldnt find it... this man insisted he be able to meet me to thank me in person..i invited him to my house that evening... he gave me $60 which i split with a co worker who had been with me when i found it... i showed him my metal detectors and some of my cooler finds.. after an hour or two he left thank me again and again and again...he gave me his business card and said if i ever need anything give him a call... about 2 or 3 months later a strange car parked in front of my house..it was the frenchman returning with a box of fine french chocolates and a plastic baggy full of foreign change he had accumulated while traveling around the world... i havent seen him in a few years ... it was a cool experience for sure...

That is a neat story! Thanks for sharing.

Last May while I was at one of our local beaches a lady approached me and asked if my machine would find a pair of Very Expensive Prescription Sun Glasses that her friend had lost. I spent close to 30 minutes in the water searching the area where she had lost her glasses. When I told the two ladies that I had exhausted any chance of finding the glasses as the tide was incoming they turned and walked away. Neither of them bothered to thank me for my efforts.

Next day I was asked to search for a lost wedding band. Took less than 10 minutes after we got to the area where the husband thought that he had lost the band until till I had it in my scoop. Both he and His wife would not accept that I did not want or need a reward. I finally consented and was given a substantial reward for my efforts.

The way people react to acts of kindness is a never ceasing puzzle.

I like hearing the good outcomes. I returned a class ring that had been lost for 19 years. The man cried when i gave it to him and tried to give me a hundred dollars. I wouldn't take it so he said i was going to take 20 for gas so i did take that. He said I didn't realize what it meant to him. He had it foir about four days when it got lost.
