A few weeks ago, I left a note asking for permission to detect the vacant lot next to a house I dug 4 silver and wheats at. Well, today, I got it. Only thing is, I didn't dig it because the guy across the street was out fiddling around with his motorcycle so I walked over, introduced myself, asked and BAM! Permission to hunt. Vacant lot on hold for tomorrow or Monday.
The yard is full of dense trash and shallow clad. Lots of nulling. At the end of the front walk under a tree, I got a nice deep, sweet sounding signal. The ground is rocky and the roots are thick and tangled. After Cut a shallow plug with detecting shovel, I loosened up the stone and dirt with my Lesche and kept scooping out the loose stuff. Once I had a hole going, I'd stick my Lesche in on one side of a root and shove the dirt under to the other side and scoop it out with my plastic garden trowel, all the time checking to see where the target was with my pin-pointer. At about 7 inches and 10 minutes later, she appeared. The nicest Large Cent I have dug to date - 1847!
The wheats I found were all together in one spill. I thought it was very unusual that the dates were all 10 years apart - 1937, 1947 and 1957 - all in, what I consider, great shape! And, all "7s" including the 1847 Large Cent.
The button is a Scoville Triple Gilt. The Aluminum tokens read Winners Circle (Round Token) and Reader's Digest (Square Postage Stamp looking Token).
