2nd half in a Month

Went out early this morning. Went for a 3.5 mile walk around 5:30. Finished that and went metal detecting.

I'm out on the Colorado river at my river house. This is where I grew up, so I know all of the older places to hunt.

I decided to go try the old Masonic Hall parking lot and yard. Detected for about 45 minutes and all I got was some lousy
Clad and a 1921 wheat. Went around to the front of the lodge to hunt the median strip.
After about 5 minutes I got an 89, 91, 91 signal. Used my pro pointer and popped out a 1905 barber half. All corroded, but
You can read the date and see all of the barber head and the eagle on the back. Best thing is you can also see the mint mark.
This baby is a 1905-O. That is a very rare coin. Not worth much in this kind of shape, but who cares. Finding it is all of the fun anyway.
Can you believe this is my second half in about a month. I found a 1935 walker in an old movie theater lot about a month ago.

Just for what it's worth, researching and knowing where to hunt really improves your odds of finding some neat old coins. This make about
My 15th silver for the year

Good luck and happy hunting-----------------thanks for reading.

Congrats on your two half dollars!!

That is some good work and thinking on your part...! :clapping: Congratulations on some big silver coins!

Way to go, Sparkster! Love those Barber coins. Not sure about the 5:30 wake up call :goodnight:

I have been hunting vacant lots where houses use to be, older houses with permission, old movie theater sites, curb strips in old sections of town.

One median strip I have been hunting had the curbs installed by the WPA. If you are under 50 years old, look up WPA on Wikipedia, that will givevyou a hint of a little history
And tell you about how old the median strips are.

No I'm not in Texas I'm in California. Wish I was in Texas right now. Loads of neat places to hunt there. I was in Corpus Christi for a couple of years back in the 60's. Loved that area. Kind of like California without a bozo lion people. I go back to Texas every year, always find lots of great finds there.
