2nd G2 /13" Ultimate coil field test

Went south to relic hunt on Thursday and Friday. I went back to the same site as the first field test....targets now are very few and far between. All the targets found were from 8 - 12" down. Deepest non-ferrous target was a blob of melted lead about the size of a quarter at a measured 11" down. Audio was soft but still a "dig me" signal. The very end of a horseshoe (about 1" long) was recovered at 12". So, in this soil (mild) the G2 with the 13" Ultimate coil can get non -ferrous targets down to about 11"....not bad....again this is about a 2" gain in usable depth. Your results may vary. Bill

Do they make an Ultimate coil for the G2?

I don't see them available at Detech or Kellyco.

Is the coil you are using designed for another machine?

Never mind

I read the other posts and see that the Ultimate 13 will work, it just isn't advertized as being compatible.

Good to know.

Thank you for the test data, Bill. So around a 2 inch gain in depth, from 9" to 11". This is about a 20% gain. Well worth the upgrade! I plan on getting one for my Goldbug DP. I need to figure out which Ultimate 13 will be compatible for the GB DP. Thanks again, we now know that this is a nice upgrade. Kev

MassSalt --

It sounds from your above post that you are still confused about coils for your Gold Bug Pro, and I'm not sure why...several of us have tried to help, and we also pointed you to the sticky from Dave Johnson (one of First Texas' engineers) at the top of this forum, regarding coils.

In summary -- if it's a DD coil, and it is a Fisher Gold Bug Pro, a Teknetics G2, a Teknetics Delta, a Teknetics Gamma, or a Teknetics Omega coil, THEN it is a coil intended by First Texas to work properly on a Gold Bug Pro/Gold Bug DP.

To make it perfectly clear, here is the KellyCo catalog number for the 13" Ultimate Coil for the Omega/Gamma (and THUS, the one you need for a Gold Bug Pro)... 134-13uog

Hi Steve. Sorry for being such a dunce about which Ultimate 13 would work with my GB DP. But now I know! Thank you very much for your explicite information. I am def getting one of those. Kev

Try the 8 inch coil and wow a 5 cents at 13 inches.

Ken, what 8" are you talking about? I've haven't been on the G2 forum in a while so don't know if I've missed something. I have the 5x10" and the 5" for my G2 and use them both but didn't know there was an 8". thanks.....
