I am in agreement with Mr. Bill on this one. The coil on the Whites is a mono coil and reducing the delay to 15 usec would make it extremely difficult to use in most places in AZ.
Most likely, you would have to increase the delay back to the 25 usec or close to it to minimize the ground signals.
So, your present settings will be fine. Also, you will be able to find gold with your detector if you get your coil over it, providing the gold is within range, and it is large enough. My guess is you will be limited to about a half gram or more in size. You might find some smaller if it is on the surface and your coil is on top of it.
What you will not be able to do is to detect the extremely small gold down in the 1 to 4 or 5 grain range that is found there that can be found with VLF's. Outside of that, your detector will perform much like other PI's. It will not have quite the depth capabilities of the more expensive ones, but the difference will not be that dramatic in some cases.
What you will have is a detector that will work well in areas where hotrocks or black sand is a problem. In these areas, your detector will or just may work better than some other PI's and VLF's.
You might experience just a little ground signal in some places, but this will depend upon the sensitivity of your detector and the ground conditions, but it should be minimal and not cause much of a problem.
