258 coins in one hole

What a weird day it was at the Jersey shore. I had the day off and planned to hunt for just a couple of hours this morning. As I walked out onto the beach, I noticed 2 quarters on top of the dry sand. I told myself maybe it was a good sign. Then I noticed a few more coins. As I started sifting the area with my hands, more and more coins came up. I put my detector down and just started scooping. Each scoop full had at least 20 coins. It was a half and hour before I even started using my detector to locate coins. In the 258 coins found, there was a Mexican coin, a Susan B. Anthony, a wheat cent, a Canadian quarter, and a old transit token. I just wonder where these coins came from. All were found in a 3 foot diameter area. I detecting another 90 minutes and found 64 more coins and a vicious looking knife near the water line. HH

Wow, Dave...that's amazing. You hit a "honey hole", as they are refferred to. When that happens, you dig, dig, dig until you can't dig no more. What you found was a hot spot where "Davey Jones' Locker" got busted open. Either through a heave-ho of the goodies from offshore up into the wet sand zone, OR via a heavy erosion of the beach in that area, uncovering goodies that were "locked" deep in the wet sand, until uncovered. Was there a "cut" there that you are working? Those are the best. Because there are ALWAYS gold rings in such a situation.

Except apparently this time.

What kind of detector are you running?

You weren't running any discrimination, were you? God help you if you were.

Seems like there should have been some gold goodies in close proximity to that hot spot. Then again, I HAVE seen OLD clad bonanzas like that with no bling. It's rare though.

Are you kiddin` ??!

Borrow a PI and go back right NOW and keep diggin` DEEPER! :goodnight: Get a huge scoop or shavel man!

You were right on top of golds! Not these mere clads! You ain`t got it ??!!

You left with two bucks from a spot where you had to pick up hundreds hombre!!

OMG!

Vicious knife and a spot full of coins might be someones robbery gains.
Better in your pocket than theirs.
Would like to hit a spot like that..
