...I was out the other evening, and when I turned on the machine, I noticed that some of settings had changed. In particular, the surface elimination was turned on.
When I went into the menu to turn it back off, the machine did not act right at all. I have the voice turned on to menu, and every time, I pressed the <-> button, it would go, "Surface elimination... inches" "Surface elimination... inches" then it started in with "surface elimination... ground balance" "surface elimination... volume" "surface elimination... sensitivity"
Finally, I shut the machine off, and then turned it back on and held the "start" button until it defaulted back to factory setting. When it loaded back up, I was able to go through and reset everything and the machine worked fine for the rest of the evening, even after being shut off and on again several times.
Was that just a hiccup or is something going on the fritz? The machine is new, and I have only been able to use it a couple times because of the weather. If it is going on the fritz, I'd like to get it fixed before the season starts up full swing.
BTW, I dug this little beaut, so as I mentioned, the machine worked really fine the rest of the evening. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Gabe probably just a hiccup like you said. Be sure your not running cheap batteries in it. Perhaps it could be from sitting for a long period of time without being used.

The first week using the 2500, I had problem with
the detector locking up and changing settings.
It was due to hanging my headphone over the control
panel which compressed one or more keys.
This was not a problem with the 1250, because the
keys were recessed.

i just turned it off then back on and everything was fine. perhaps just a temporary settings reset glitch i hope. HH Bill

Hey Gabe, My 2500 acted up once when I failled to turn it off before changing the batteries. I dont remember exactly what it was doing but it wasnt right. I think you did the correct thing by resetting to the factory settings HH Gutz
