2500 problem - anyone else?

After nailing some deep, great finds last week, my 2500 sits quietly in the corner. :sadwalk:
It has a recurring problem: the battery indicator goes clear, even though the batts. are fine. At the same time, I no longer get any response to a target. I can still change the settings, and the 'talk' works. I tried rebooting the detector, but nothing changed. I tried a different coil, nothing changed. Anyone else ever see this? Then for no apparent reason, it will 'fix' itself for awhile. I'd hate to send it in for repair, only to have them not find anything 'wrong' with it. Thanks.

It sounds like battery problems to me. Take a pencil eraser and clean all the battery ends and clips. If you are using rechargeables, make sure you use the rechargeable battery indicator setting. If using standard batteries, make sure you are using the correct battery indicator setting. Make sure your batteries are in proper sequence. Try a new set of batteries also. If you are running a good set of batteries with one faulty or drained cell, you will experience problems.

Try this, and see if it makes any difference. :) Good luck!

To add to what John stated, check to see if the batteries are firmly connecting with each other and give them a spin in the holder to make sure.

Also make sure there are no cracks in the battery holder. On the sides or ends. That happen to me and caused some problems with mine.

crack at the ends. If you find that cracked cases are the problem, call Mary at Garretts. She will send you replacement cases at no charge. Garrett will go out of their way to keep their machines running and customers happy.
God Bless
