250 ?

iv'e had a ace 250 over a year now and i have purchased 3 more detectors since then. i think the 250 is a very good detector but i cannot get any more than about 6 inches with a quarter in the air. iv'e had it out in an open field, no electric interf. anywhere around, had the sense. turned all the way up, put in brand new batteries. it just won't do it. i still use it alot, but all the talk about 8 and 10 inches i'm just not seeing it. iv'e had alot of good finds with it, but nothing more than 5 inches from the coil.

If you use descremination or notching, the machine will get less depth. That could be an issue.

Here's an option. Get a Tesoro Tejon if you want depth.

There are other good choices. Most are more expensive.

You may have ground condition issues.

Tejon can handle adverse ground conditions very well.

It doesn't have a TID, but if you are competent and have a good set of headphones you can increase your productivity. If you are not that competent and don't like headphones, then maybe a TID may be what you need to rely on. It's hard to find a TID machine that's better than the 250 unless you are prepared to shell out some big money.

That's my 2 cents.

Hey Top,

I am unable to understand this desire some folks have to dig deep.
Myself, I never dig deeper than the target!

What are the other three machine you purchased since the Ace 250?

I do have a Little Yeller Feller and like it, but would never consider it a deep machine.

It's just nice and lite and handy to use.

Perhaps you could "clear" an area with it, then use a known Hi-power machine as Tabdog suggests the Tejon to go down deeper after all the recent drops have been cleared easily.

You know, those fellows up at Oak Island have dug that pit down to 235ft now.
I'd hate to start out wanting to dig that deep!!!!

Hello Top'

My 250 will only airtest a quarter out to about 6.5" with sensitivity at 50% of maximum... a dime @ 5.5".

But what I've found, is on test-plot coins, the 250 will still hit that dime when buried 5.5" deep, even with the 4.5" sniper coil. This with a good/diggable ID as well!

I've used other, more expensive machines that wouldn't hit/ID that dime with bigger coils.

I agree with what has been posted prior, although the 250 pulls up silver every day, if you want the really deep stuff an Explorer or Tejon might be the ticket. I have both and those machines go deep.

HH!

i have a ace 250, and gti 1500 (my son uses), and titan 2000 (which i really like believe it or not), and a tesoro v--that i just got and plan on using alot. i just posted about the ace because i really never could get all those great depths that other people were getting with it. i like the ace and i'll never sell it. i plan on making the v my main detector now. it is the first detector that i have used that has no id. i'm not finished buying detectors either.

Yea, thats about right. I you want more depth you'll
have to get the 9x12 coil. Also keep in mind that most coins
are going to be in the 1-6 range anyway.

Well, they SAY they getting it but how much information is being left out of their posts.
Maybe they are beach hunting? Maybe they used a larger coil and negelected to mention that?
Also, how are they measureing depth? Just because the debth meter reads 6, 7, or 8 doesn't mean
thats where the cion really is. The meter measures as an approximation. Also
there have been many times I have dug out the target not knowing I had done so. By the time
I stopped digging and checked the hole then the pile of dirt, the target was in the pile of dirt.
So how far down wasn the target, really? A lot of times we fool ourselves.
