250 vs. Wet Sand; And The Winner Is....

Howdy, all. Long time reader, 1st time poster. I've spent most of my time over at Treasurenet, but I've been sneaking in here for knowledge as well.
So I've been using the 250 for a couple of months now, with pretty good results considering my hunts have been mostly my yard and the school playground (around $10 in clad, a golf trophy, a few hot wheels and the crucifix off of a set of rosary beads to name a few finds).
I have ventured out to the beach a couple of times (FL Gulf coast), and love the results in the dry sand but have been banging my head against a wall in any wet sand. Even if I dig down into wet from dry, it's all over. False signals and the pinpoint is useless (I am generally a huge pro-ponent of the pinpointing feature despite some of the mixed problems I have read here).
I have found that the jewelery mode runs the best results for me, and I have brought the sensitivity down to 2-3 bars but still have have frustrating results. Any thoughts, suggestions, magic potions, etc?

Great looking finds. Don`t have a 250 to help you out though.

Try running the the Discrimination up to 3 bars. Than start your sensitive off and go up till it falses. Then back it down one. Since the disc. is up 3 bars you will lose very small white and some small yellow gold. The other thing is try to stay in the wet and don't try to swing over the wet meets the dry. This will keep the machine from retuning to the changing enviroments.I have to play with mine in the wet and give an update.Hope this helps,Joe

Joe,
This very well may help. You're right on the money with the wet to dry changeover; the more I think about it the more I realize that is exactly where I was today, and everytime I would swing over that line....chaos ensued. Despite my sunblock I got quite a nasty burn today so I will give it a day or two and try it out.
Thanks!

It does not come off sweat or in the water! It is the only thing I use especailly during summer time.In fact I nearly bath in it before I leave the house.Good hunting,Joe

Thanks again, Joe. My burn is looking much better. I'll grab some of that sunblock, anything is better than the crisp I got. My wife wants me to show her the beach I was hunting at, so I guess I'll just have to drag myself back there to try those settings.... sometimes life is so hard! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
I'll post an update once we've been back.
