250 test (long)

I would like to relate a test a friend and I did on the 250. We took a combined total of 65 gold rings we had found. Mostly in swimming areas. In coin mode with one extra block added which is to the left side of the nickel block as some small white gold and platinum read quite low in the foil range. This was done in air test. The rings ranged from very small white gold to zinc penny. We had two that read zinc penny. Because the notches are wide you would dig a certain amount of pulltabs. But by no means all. Of the 65 gold rings tested in air the 250 regestered 55. Not bad odds for anyone wanting to find gold rings anywhere where gold rings may be lost. Parks, jogging trails, where frisbees are thrown. Of course at some sites like volleyball courts or swimming holes I dig all targets. A really good spot to use this setup would be the grassy area of public swimming areas that are roped off for swimming.

Very interesting report, Jack. 55 out of 65 is a very good percentage, being in coin mode with the extra notch added, to get gold rings. It appears, that if this works as well as your tests indicate, this mode would be preferable to the Jewelry Mode, which generally has an abundance of "blips" to decipher.

Of the 55 that hit, about how many were pure "lock ons" and how many were "iffy signals"? Just curious and sure anxious to try this out. In the 7 months I've owned the Ace 250 (and I love it), I've yet to find a ring. Lots of coins and relics, but no rings:shrug:

I love numbers and what they mean.....what you mentioned is good information to know when using the ACE Series Machines.
