250+sniper+Sunray Probe equals coins...

Uncle Willy

New member
We've got a week of sunshine on tap finally so got out for awhile this afternoon with the 250, sniper, and Sunray probe, and went bark chipping. One of the quarters, a few pennies, and the ring, were found in a football field with the new GTI coil. The rest was found with the 250 and sniper.

The bark chips here are sop and wet so pennies and stained coins are the same color and a bear to find in the chips. Enter the Sunray probe and the problem is solved and it zeroes right in on them. All these coins were found next to the metal playground equipment and right along a chain link fence. The tiny jewelry clasp was down about four inches or more so this indicates the sensitivity of this coil and the depth on tiny objects. These were all found in an area that usually doesn't give up much but with the Sniper I was able to hunt areas off limits to standard coils.

I run the sensitivity at four bars so I can get closer to metal. If I get a soft signal as with the tiny clasp I just bump the sensitivity up and the signal sounds as if it is a half dollar down there. THis coil loves nickels and really barks on them. There's a lot of coins to be found in areas unavailable to the larger coils and the Sniper opens up new hunting grounds.

Glad your rain let up a while. I'm gonna have to
order one of those sniper coils pretty soon.

Nice collection Uncle Willy,I really like bark chips they always seem to hold a lot of coins. Nice ring as well. Were you checking the side lines at the football field....any bleachers? I love bleachers...

Everyone who has purchased one of those probes seems quite happy. The fact that it can run off the rechargeable "AA"s in the detector itself instead of the 9 volt batteries makes it awfully tempting.....
