250 or 1500

Never mind the price which would be better to buy 250 or 1500 I cannot choose would I get my money worth on the 1500 or would the 250 do just as good as the 1500 beside imaging what more will the 1500 do over the 250 and is the 1500 better stronger built then the 250 help me to decide thanks.

i think a lot of it is based on what options you really want. learning to use your detector, no matter the brand or model, seems to be the key here. Before I bought my ace 250 i was using a Bounty Hunter that my dad bought at BassPro, it's a $100 detector that was finding the same things by Ace 250 finds, it's just a little easier to notch out most of the junk with the 250, plus the target ID on the display is nice.

Build quality is great on the 250. It's doesn't feel flimsy. I would suggest using the 250. Then later (if you need to) you could move up. You can always sell your used 250 for almost what you paid for it. I recently sold my 2.5 year old 250 for 183.50 plus 14.99 shipping on the big auction site. Then I used that money to buy me a brand new 250 for 189.00 with free shipping. You can't loose with a 250!

no kidding about getting what you paid for the 250 when used. i have a friend who has a 250 that is asking 165 for it and it's almost brand new. since it's mine i didn't post it for sale anywhere. if i had the cash i'd buy it to have 2!

Besides the imaging, I can't think of much it could do better than the Ace 250.
For the money the Ace is a good buy. The standard coil and the sniper 4.5 coil is probably all you would need.
For what it would cost to buy a used 1500 you could get two ACe 250s or close to it.
I know how agonizing it is to make a decision. Personally I don't know that the imaginf is all that
big a deal since after a bit of practice with the Ace you'll be able to tell if the target is big or not. But it IS
a nice added feature of the 1500. Do you really need it? Well, after digging a few big crushed cans and other junk
you might wish you had had the imaging. Of course if you DON'T dig the target you could be missing out on
a jar or tin of coins someone buried. If your new to MDing I'd go with the ACe and see if this is the hobbly for you.
If you get addicted like most of us, you'll want a better detector later and keep the Ace for back up or for taking friends out.

Good luck.

I own 12 detectors. Several top of the line. I have 2 250's. For my type of hunting (mainly jewelry) the 250 is the one I use most. Very sensitive to low conductive targets.....Jack
